Jack and
Hitler’s similarities
The Lord of the
Flies, by William Golding is
about schoolboys evacuating an airplane crash into an island. Jack is one of
the boys, he is a leader and puts himself before anyone else. Jack and Hitler
are dictators because they both steal their power, manipulate people so they
can keep their power, and controlled their followers through resources.
Jack and Hitler Both used violence and intimidation
as a way to steal and keep their power. Jack gathered all the boys and shows
off his strength by doing this he gains the loyalty of the boys except for
Piggy, Simon, and the twins “He was a chief now in the truth; and he made
stabbing motions with his spear, from his left hand dangled Piggy’s broken
glasses”(4). Jack took Piggy’s glasses and his glasses symbolize hope of the
kids on the island because it is used as a tool to start a fire.
Hitler and Jack
showed a lot of violence when he kills the pig. “I thought I might kill” (4),
Jack gets his hunters to kill the sow then after they tortured it. Jack uses
food to control the boys, Jack makes up an idea of the mysterious creature
knows as “The Beast” that none of the boys have ever seen, by telling the boys
this he makes himself try to look like a better leader, better than Ralf. Jack
has the mentality that killing is a way of hope. He wants to hunt and control
to survive. Hitler was leader of Germany which he placed Jews under strict
regulations and disabilities in many European cities. Hitler kept water, food,
and money from these people. Hitler had power over just about everyone and
would lie to them just like jack did.” This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized
nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more
efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!” (3).
Hitler didn’t think police were as strong and powerful as him her
Jack and Hitler
limit people’s free speech. Jack is trying to control the boys. Golding writes “Conch!
Conch! We didn’t need the conch anymore, we know who ought to say things” (4). Jack
is telling the boys he is in control. He can make big decisions without the boy’s
opinions. Hitler used propaganda he took control of all kinds of forms of
communication. “The stronger must dominate and not mate with the weaker, which
would signify the sacrifice of its own higher nature. Only the born weakling
can look upon this principle as cruel, and it he does so it is merely because he
is a feebler nature and narrower mind; for it’s such a law did not direct the
process of evolution then the higher development of organic life would not be contrivable
at all” (2). Hitler didn’t care about what anyone had to say, he didn’t want
his people interfering with Jews because he was trying to convince German
people that Jews were their enemies.
Jack and Hitler
are both dictators because they both steal their power, by manipulating people
so they both can keep it. They also limit people’s free speech by controlling what
everyone did. Both Jack and Hitler are selfish for taking away from people just
to keep their power.
